IT can be overwhelming enough, shopping at a huge supermarket.
But if that supermarket is Tesco in Walkden, Manchester – it’s a whole new experience.

The store is the UK’s biggest Tesco, and occupies a staggering 185,500 sq ft of floor space.
Georgia and two of her friends decided to have a day out visiting the epic shop, documenting the process on TikTok.
The trio were more than a little excited when they finally got there, but once they were inside, they quickly became “overwhelmed”.
“There’s so much space!” Georgia said, pointing out the Greggs cafe in the supermarket.
The toy aisle is so big that it’s effectively a separate concession for The Entertainer, and Georgia was desperate to buy a huge Haribo gold bear.
“Thank God they put a bench halfway round, it’s tiring work out here!” Georgia laughed as she and her friends rested their feet and pretended to have a quick drink on the picnic table there.
They continued walking around the shop, but it was so big they couldn’t “even see the end”.
They did, however, come across a Holland and Barrett, as well as 37 aisles – not including the toy and homeware ones.
There’s even a bulk buy section, with huge cases of Kinder Bueno bars, Nutella bars and Walkers crisps.
“Wait. Walkden Tesco is the biggest Tesco?”one person commented on the TikTok.
“How did I never know this when I’ve been a million times???”
“That is a city!” another added.
“You’re living the dream,” a third commented.
“Let’s go,” someone else wrote, tagging a friend.
“That’s so huge!” another said.
Best Items to Buy In Bulk in a Supermarket

Poppy Needham, a pricing pro at Approved Food, shared her top tips on what to bulk-buy.
Cupboard essentials
Toilet roll, kitchen paper, tissues, cleaning products and laundry supplies.
Polly explained: “A 24-pack of loo roll or a large bottle of washing-up liquid will save you money in the long run.”
Starchy staples
Rice, pasta, quinoa, oats, lentils, and beans have long shelf lives and form the basis of many meals.
“Buying larger bags of 5kg or more can significantly reduce the cost per gram,” said Poppy.
Chicken
Large packs of chicken, or even cheap frozen chicken breasts in bulk.
Tinned goods
From tinned tomatoes, tuna, salmon, any soup, and even fruits and veg.
Poppy commented: “Stock up when you see offers on multipacks or catering-size tins.
Misc
Cooking oils, spices, seasonings, tea, coffee, and drinks – these items keep their quality for a long time.
As for sweet treats, larger or sharing packs of chocolate are usually better value than single-serve portions.
“This is so weird seeing my work on TikTok,” someone else laughed.
While another admitted it was their “dream workplace”.
“The fact my local Tesco has been a tourist attraction for so many people!” someone else marvelled.
Another person asked Georgia if she was planning to visit the UK’s biggest Asda, in Milton Keynes, to which she replied that it “looks like we’re making it a series!”
